Background
Casa Dragones is best know for being on the higher end of tequila, and when you google the brand, chances are you will encounter either the blanco or this tequila. Founded in 2009 by Bertha González Nieves, Casa Dragones is a fairly newer brand when compared to the others out there in the market of tequila. Unlike Don Julio or Jose Cuervo, chances are you haven’t heard of this tequila unless you were looking for it by name. If your on Opera fan, you may have encounter it in the 2020 Magazine having been featured as one of the 20 items that were worth celebrating 20 years.
So what is a Joven? A Joven is a blend of silver and extra-anejo tequila. Casa Dragones takes it a step further and places this mixture back into new American oak barrels to add an additional layer of complexity. All of this mixture is made up of 100% Blue Agave
Small batch, master blend of 100% Blue Agave silver and extra aged tequila, rested in new American Oak barrels, for a complex, smooth taste that is perfect for sipping and pairing with food. 96 points Best Tequila Rating by Wine Enthusiast.

The interesting factors that you will encounter with the Joven line specifically is there custom engraving that the do to each bottle as part of a series. The engraving is different for each series as seen below in the images listed here on the website. They also offer this same engraving in a gift set with matching patterned glasses.

Now understandably this doesn’t contribute to anything amountable in the review score as honestly your here to find out if the tequila on the inside is worth the $300 dollar asking price. However, you can’t deny that for your money at least Casa Dragones is taking a step further than other brands charging similarly with other products in this area. These extra steps are definitely making the experience unique or worth the time if you intend to keep the glasses (which mind your are crystal) or bottle that does include a glass cap for re-use for later if you intend to do so.
Onto the Review

Yes | For me, no. (Made it harsher) |
Clean flavors are present here. Vanilla is a prominent flavor amongst the sipping experience. When I drink tequila, I often find that I get more pepper corn flavors than most people. This is fine, but this is certainly a try before you buy as the pepper corn flavors may not be as pronounced for you as they are for me.
For people looking for a complex tequila, well unfortunately this is not it. This is a very refined and almost consider triple distilled flavors or even a crystalino levels of muddled in complexity. These are not a bad thing and certainly not a nick to the manufacturer or distiller, but something to keep in mind if you are looking for complex flavors.
The flavors that are present are long and stick with you for almost over a minute in cases. So my recommend is sip then reflect as this will be there for the duration of the sipping experience.
Conclusion
If there is a one word to describe this tequila it is “Smooth”. I know people hate that term, but damn. This one is just really, and I mean really nice. The palette is just heaven in a bottle for me and when I think of tequila and all it can be, this is it.
Its agave flavors are on point. The peppery flavors that accompany it are wonderfully matched with that butter smooth mouth feel from this tequila.
In terms of uniqueness, not so much. But that isn’t what this is. This is a very clean, smooth and in my case celebratory tequila. If you can find them they do come in a gift set. These gift sets usually have the bottle engraved along with some glasses that match the engraving on the bottle. The set also includes a nice glass stopper for your bottle, which is nice, but I’ll continue to use the stopper that came with the bottle.
This is certainly a great option for celebrating an anniversary, a milestone event, or even a retirement party. Whatever the occasion, enjoy it the way you want to.
